Kimberly Hamilton, age 27
Kimmi grew up playing sports, particularly basketball & soccer. At the collegiate level, Kimmi played soccer at University of Pittsburgh Bradford, and ran Cross Country at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, placing 11th overall in the CUNYAC Championships in 2005. Over the years Kimmi has worked at Club Equinox SoHo and Columbus Circle in New York, NY, and Gold’s gym in Rehoboth.
“In addition to sports, I have always enjoyed hitting the gym and keeping up with the latest diet and workout craze. Prior to CrossFit my typical routine consisted of about two hours at the gym – 45 minutes of “cardio” followed by an hour of weight training. I thought that was normal! Though I would see results, I couldn’t keep fitting two hours of training into my daily schedule. And when I couldn’t keep up with my routine my eating habits would begin to suffer, and I would be back to stage one – struggling with my weight.
In the spring of 2010, while looking into new training methods, I discovered the CrossFit main site. I began incorporating some of the exercises in my routine, and as luck would have it within a couple of weeks I happened to meet Jessica. My boyfriend and I signed up for her 5 week CrossFit Camp, and I was immediately hooked! I knew this was exactly what my training (and diet) had been missing. And I realized that this was just the beginning of something big for me.
Since I began CrossFit, I have never felt better! Now I achieve better, faster results in less than half the time I used to spend at the gym, and I haven’t had any trouble maintaining my weight.
As a coach, I look forward to helping the next person become more confident physically and mentally, just as I have. I love that fact that I am part of a community striving to reach their best selves. Every person at CFR, from age 7 to 70, never ceases to amaze and inspire me, and I consider myself lucky to be part of the CrossFit Rehoboth team.”
Kimberly graduated from John Jay College NY, NY with a BA in Deviant Behavior and Social Control. She lives in Rehoboth Beach,DE with her boyfriend Jim Affeldt and her princess cat Missie. Her parents and siblings live in her hometown of Ithaca, NY.
