Delaware CrossFit Challenge

CFR takes 2nd place overall, and two girls take top spots!

This past Saturday, 4 affiliates (63 people) competed in the 2nd CrossFit Delaware Challenge. Though a few CFR members competed in the last challenge (under the Sussex county team), this was CFR’s first official competition as a box. We were the smallest team (with 9 members), made up of some of the newest CrossFiter’s competing, and I am proud to say that our little team represented! Not only did we finish with two top spots (and 2nd place team), but each member gave 100% and put up competitive numbers overall.

The decision to expand from private coaching to a CrossFit box hit me suddenly at the first challenge last April in Dover. I was so struck by the camaraderie and fellowship among members and coaches of the various Crossfit boxes, that I left there thinking, “I want to build a CrossFit family too”. Less than a month later, Troy and I opened CrossFit Rehoboth. That decision has made me a better coach, athlete, and competitor! Being among my fellow members and coaches during the competition – cheering each other on, pushing each other, supporting and congratulating each other – was such a great feeling. For me personally, I know I couldn’t have done as well as I did without all of that support and energy.

I am so proud of our team – Troy, Chris, Shane, Jesse, Jason, Kimmy, Tara, and our most senior coach and athlete, Cindy, who held her own among the Level 3 athletes, finishing in 3rd place! Each of you fought hard, and it was great to see your efforts and discipline over the past months paying off! THANK YOU for your commitment, and especially for being a part of our CrossFit family.

Competition = 2 WODs

WOD 1

7 MINUTES – Ground to Over Head ANYWAY 20 reps

Level 1: 135lbs/85lbs with kipping pull up
Level 2: 115/65 lbs with jumping pull up
Level 3: 45 lbs with jumping pull up

In remaining time complete AMRAP of:
5 Burpees
5 Pull Ups

Your score is how many rounds you completed of the Burpees/Pull Ups

WOD 2

CHIPPER WITH A 20 MINUTE TIME CAP

Level 1: 95/65 lbs; box jump 24″/20″; wall ball 20/14 lbs
Level 2: 75/55 lbs; 20″ box jump; wall ball 16/10 lbs
Level 3: 45 lbs, 12″ box jump; wall ball 6 lbs

Run 400 meters
30 Wall Ball (butt to ball for standard;8′ for women/10′ for men)
15 Push Press
90 Sit Ups (butterfly sit ups for standard)
15 Thrusters
30 Box Jumps
15 SDHP
90 Air Squats
400 Meter Sprint

CrossFit Rehoboth is happy to announce that we will be hosting the 3rd Delaware Challenge this Fall. We look forward to competing once again among some of the best athletes in Delaware, and continuing this tradition that George Dobbins of CrossFit Dover started.
